Vendor of the Month - Criation Station Alpaca Farm

NOTE:  Marcee will have her alpacas at the Oberlin Farmers Market on Saturday, September 1st from 9-1pm.  Don't miss this exciting opportunity to pet an alpaca and learn more about them!

Please tell us about yourself:  My name is Marcee L. Stephenson. My husband, Barry and I run the Criation Station Alpaca Farm in Oberlin, OH. We've been raising alpacas for 11 years and love the uniqueness of both the alpacas themselves, as well as their luscious fiber. We are a full-service farm offering boarding, breeding, sales and fiber sorting services. We also take our alpacas to various shows throughout Ohio and surrounding states.  Over the last 5 years we've participated in the Oberlin Farmers Market and other various arts and craft shows. It is such a joy to meet new folks and share our products with them.

What do you sell at the market? What are you main crops/products? Products made from alpaca fiber, such as yarn, roving, knitted hats, felted scarves, and woven rugs and chairpads, just to name a few.

How long have you been participating in the Oberlin Farmers Market? What brought you to the community?  This will be our 5th season participating in the Oberlin Farmer's Market.  We live in Oberlin and thought it was a perfect place to sell our unique alpaca fiber products.

What is your favorite part about the Oberlin/larger Lorain County region? Oberlin, in particular, is very eco-conscious and green minded as well as arts oriented. The folks here appreciate unique, quality hand-crafted items.

What got you interested in growing the crops or making the products you sell? We wanted an outlet to sell items made from our own alpacas' fiber.

How do you see your farm/business developing in the future? We continue to add new fiber-related products each year.  New products for 2012 include felted drink coasters, bird-nesting materials, and felted goats milk soap.
